Terra Alpha Investments is a growing sustainable investment management firm located in Washington, DC. We invest in publicly-traded companies utilizing our proprietary Environmental Productivity™ analytical framework to produce better returns for our investors.
We are seeking to add an equity analyst to our team to help conduct deep-dive research within selected industries and assist in identifying fundamentally sustainable companies within those industries. The position will report to our Director of Investment Data & Research and will be expected to collaborate directly will all members of the team.
The ideal candidate will combine a strong analytical skill set with a range of qualitative skills in order to effectively communicate his or her research. The candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, and bring a positive attitude to his or her work.
Conduct research and become familiar with assigned industries
Assist in identifying companies with fundamentally sustainable business models and high levels of Environmental Productivity™ within assigned industries
Collect and interpret company data as part of the research process
Write research reports and present findings to the team
Maintain constant coverage of current events impacting assigned industries
Engage with investor relations teams and executives of portfolio companies
Collaborate with other members of the research team on thematic research and idea sharing
Provide support to the senior investment team on additional projects
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, environmental studies, or a similar subject
At least one year of experience in a professional office environment
Self-starter and ability to meet deadlines under minimal supervision
High energy and ability to work well as a member of a team
Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and grow with the firm
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency for presenting research and drawing conclusions
Passion for finance and investing
Longer-term thinking when it comes to investing
Strong proficiency in Excel is required
Proficiency in Bloomberg software is a plus
CFA candidacy or designation and/or a Master’s degree is a plus
